Everything You Came to New York For Is Just Outside Our Door
In the city that never sleeps there is lots to see and do! Radio City Apartments sits on West 49th Street, right in the pocket of Manhattan where the Theatre District, Rockefeller Center and Fifth Avenue all meet. You don't need a cab, a subway map, or a full day of planning - most of what brings people to New York is within a 15-minute walk of Radio City Apartments.
Here's a sample of what's around you but make sure to speak with our concierge to get the latest info on what to do and where to go.
Times Square & the Theatre District - 3 minute walk
Times Square is close enough that you'll see its glow from the block before you reach it. Broadway's theatres line the surrounding streets, so if you're catching a show, you can leave your apartment after dinner and still make curtain with time to spare. This is also where most of the TKTS same-day ticket booths, souvenir shops and late-night diners cluster, making it an easy stop whether you're heading out for the evening or just want to see the lights.
Rockefeller Center, Top of the Rock & Radio City Music Hall - 4–6 minute walk
Rockefeller Center is close enough to become part of your daily routine rather than a special trip. In winter, that means the ice rink and the tree; year-round, it means the shops, restaurants and the plaza itself. Head up to Top of the Rock for one of the best skyline views in the city - most guests agree it rivals the Empire State Building's, with the advantage of the Empire State Building actually being in your photo. Radio City Music Hall, the building our own name comes from, is practically next door, so if there's a show or a tour running during your stay, it's a five-minute stroll rather than a subway ride.
Fifth Avenue Shopping - 7 minute walk
Fifth Avenue's flagship stores - both luxury and mainstream retail are an easy walk from the apartment. In December, walking past all of the holiday windows is one of the neighborhood's best free things to do after dark.
Museums & Landmarks - 8–10 minute walk
The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is a short walk north, an easy way to spend a morning or an afternoon without needing to plan transportation around it. St. Patrick's Cathedral, one of the city's most striking pieces of architecture, sits right on Fifth Avenue along the same route - worth a stop even if it's just to step inside for a few quiet minutes between everything else on your list.
Bryant Park & the New York Public Library - 10–12 minute walk
South of Times Square, Bryant Park is one of Midtown's best-kept outdoor spaces - green in summer, home to a holiday market and ice rink in winter, and lined with cafés year-round. The main branch of the New York Public Library sits right at its edge if you want to see the building most people only recognize from movies.
Central Park - 15 minute walk
Central Park is close enough to reach on foot without it eating into your day. Whether it's a morning walk, a bike ride, or just finding a bench and watching the city go by, the park is a genuine walk from your apartment, not a subway trip.
Getting Around
You're also covered for the days you don't want to walk. The 49th Street subwaystation (N/Q/R/W trains) is around the corner on Seventh Avenue, and the 47-50 Streets–Rockefeller Center station (B/D/F/M trains) is a few minutes away on Sixth Avenue — between the two, most of Manhattan is a short ride from your door.
